Where Did the Weekend Go?

With all the excitement over, today was just catch up day. Had lots of laundry, as of this moment, I still have laundry to do. But I'll finish it in a few minutes. But more important stuff first.

We went to Pancho's for lunch. Needed a little indigestion. We left there and went cruising through Germantown looking at condos. Nothing new there. Then we went to Walmart to look for a new shower curtain for the newly painted bathroom. The Walmart designers must have known what I needed, because the perfect shower curtain and little hangie thingies were right there in front of my eyes. Hopefully you can tell how cute they are in these pics. The bathroom is way to small to get a full photo. So here are a couple of shots.

Bennie saw the ad that said the Aerosmith Guitar Hero would be out on July 2. So we went to the Wii section just to look, and guess what????? Aerosmith Guitar Hero is already out. And Bennie INSISTED that we go ahead and get the Game for the Wii. No since in buying one for the game we already have Guitars for. So we now have Guitar Hero for the Wii. Only one Guitar though. So no contests. Only concerts. I made it through 2 sets before I decided to give up for the night. I'm a Rock Star......

Then I turned on the Wii fit. Bennie has learned to come in and weigh in to keep his Mii from falling asleep. And I did my 30 minutes, so I can stay fit. I'm really aggravated. LuAnn is the worst Hula Hooper in the world. But she has the high score. And I nearly strained a muscle trying to knock her out of first place. Never did it. But I will keep trying.

And just for the record, I know that this photo won't turn out very good because photos of a tv screens don't work. But I just wanted the Miis to see who is awake (Bennie and Me) and who is sleeping (Cindy, Lu, Robert.) Guess you better get out here and do some exercise. Once you have worked out, I'll let you play a song!

Rainbow Bridge (edited)

Our little Dixie crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. She will be missed by all, but mostly by LuAnn. Dixie has been her source of comfort when everything else in her world was going wrong. We will all be saying extra prayers for Lu to heal from her sadness.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. And I'd like to add a note to all my friends that have kept up with Dixie for the past couple of weeks. You are all very special to show such concern for Lu and Dixie. Thank you all so very much. From me. And from Lu. I have shared it all with her and she is grateful.

Prayer for Dixie

LuAnn's Baby Girl, Dixie, is at the doggie hospital. She is sick. While they aren't sure what's wrong, they are sure it's serious. She's been in Doggie intensive care since Monday. Lu finally got a little encouragement this afternoon. There is some improvement. Dixie is still no where near out of the woods. So please pray that Dixie recovers. Sometimes I feel a little anxious about praying for things that aren't monumental. Sort of like God only gives you a certain number of things that you are allowed to ask for. And what if you use up all your allotted prayers and something even bigger happens???

But I was reminded by one of my Waltzer peeps today that it's OK to pray for your pet. They have hearts too. And I know that they have more love than most people I know. And more than that, I know that MY baby sister is grieving and she has suffered so much heart break, she doesn't deserve this. So I am praying that Dixie recovers. I'm praying that Dr. Kelsey is the best Vet in the world. And I'm praying that LuAnn gets to keep this dog for another 10 happy, healthy years. And if you haven't used your quota of prayers today, I pray that you will say a little prayer for Dixie too.

Bye, Bye Sadie

Miss Aunt Granny and B-Paw are sad. Sadie has gone home to Olive Branch. We took her home about 2:00. Her mommy and Daddy were near Holly Springs by that time, so she didn't have to stay home alone for very long. Sounds like Cindy and Mike had a nice time in Florida. They spent Wednesday through Saturday at a condo her father had rented. Then Saturday, they went to visit a good friend of Mike's, that lives in Destin. But I'll let Cindy blog all that!

In developments here, the birds continued to torture Sadie. And I continued to squirt them with mustard bottles and then got the hose after them. That was fun. But last night, I found a part of a bird. It was in Sadie's mouth. I don't think she had caught one. But I do think that something, probably the neighborhood hawk, had gotten it. Sadie just got the remnants and the blame. But that might explain some of the attack of the birds!

We had another good night last night. Sadie sleeps like a charm. I think her mother just aggravates her! We got up this morning, had breakfast, and played a little while longer. I accidentally started painting the other part of the bathroom. I was just going to paint a couple of splotches to see if I was going to like the color, and I LOVE it. So I got about 1/2 of it done. And I like it so much, I will probably do the other bathroom with the same color! Pictures to follow, as soon as I get enough of a wall painted to photograph.

Well, we wore Sadie out. Here are the pictures of her today, barely able to hold her head up. One photo of the red doggie that went to the garbage when the stuffing started being pulled out.

Since we've been home, I keep looking at the door to see if she needs to go out. I have an empty nest.

Sadie Sitting Day III, Part II

Well, the rest of the day.....

An unnamed guest came out this evening. We had told her that her Mii was sleeping and she couldn't stand for that, so she came out to wake up her Mii. I had promised her that I would feed her, so we went to Anna Renae's for dinner. That is a local antique/tea shoppe. They are normally open for lunch. But they have opened on Friday nights, for the summer. The menu consists of steak and chicken. Of course, we chose steak. It was delicious. I had wondered how they cooked steak that good in their little sandwich kitchen. As we were leaving, we exited around the back of the building. There was a man and a grill out back. Cooked to order! That explained it! And their specialty is a brownie. Not just any brownie. This is a warm brownie, with cream cheese layer and ice cream. YUMMY. My unnamed guest and I split a brownie. Bennie wasn't allowed to have dessert. He doesn't like brownies.......

We came back here to see what kind of havoc Sadie had caused. We came in the back door, and she didn't hear us. Caught her sleeping in the rocking chair. She survived the stay alone.

Unnamed guest got on the Wii and did her exercise. We found out that it is hard to exercise if Sadie is nipping at your feet. Sort of like a handicap when you are bowling.

Unnamed guest left, and we've just been goofing off the rest of the night.

Sadie Sitting Day 3

Not much to blog about yesterday. Bennie doggie sat all day yesterday while I worked. If he has anything to say, he hasn't shared it with me. They both survived and were none the worse for the wear.

We started today about 6:30. Usual doggie business. She ran and romped til about 11:00. Then this:

After her short nap, we went outside. The birds are still swooping her, so I have hooked up a sprayer to the water hose to soak the birds. While I was outside hooking up the water, our next door neighbor spotted us, so we went to visit. Madeline is the neighbor. Penny is her furbaby. Doesn't Penny look like Kady did? Penny is 12 years old, and has reached her middle age spread days. Luckily, Madeline is a doxie person. I told her I was about to soak her birds, and why. She said...Soak em good!

Penny has a doggie entrance built into the side of their house. Penny would disappear into the house, and Sadie couldn't figure out where she was going. Sadie never did figure out the door situation. But maybe before she goes home, we can get her into the door.

Well, everyone is anxiously awaiting a report. So I will do this without any pictures. I may add some later. But guess what?

We are making it just fine. Bennie went and picked Sadie up yesterday afternoon. (I'm sure he will be just as happy to take her home Sunday also.) When I got home, we did the usual doggie greetings. Took her outside, and the birds are still torturing her. Ate dinner. She and I went outside and visited with neighbors for about an hour. She "talked" to them like she talked to Brenda on Memorial Day. I think that is going to be part of her personality. Everyone else around her is talking, and she just wants to be heard.

When we got ready to go to bed, Bennie was already asleep. Luckily he was on his side of the bed. She curled up in a knot and slept in the bend of my knees. We shifted a few times, but got a good nights sleep. I will say this. Is there anything larger than a king size bed? During her horizontal sleep positions, it was crowded. And another thing. Bennie has learned not to get near me while I'm sleeping. I get really cranky when I get hot. And does anyone know how hot a dog gets sleeping under the cover at night? She transferred enough body heat to boil water.

Most people have stories about having to lift the sheets to fan certain odorous behaviors. I was lifting the sheets to let cool air circulate to keep me from going into a "personal heat wave."

Sadly, I had to leave for work. Bennie and Sadie are going to enjoy their day today. I will report later on how this day progresses.

Happy Father's Day

It's been a busy weekend, and I didn't blog yesterday, so this will be long. Go get a drink and settle in.



Cindy and Sadie came out yesterday. She has decided that she wants to supplement her income by doing some house cleaning. So I have to be her first customer. And since she would be spending most of the day here Saturday, then have to be here Sunday for Father's day, she and Sadie packed up and came for the weekend. Mike had to work.



Cindy did the house. I went to the grocery store. Bennie went and did his side job. Whew! We were busy little beavers. Since Cindy and Mike are going to Florida later in the week, she wanted to have her nails done. So we went and had pedicures. She had nails put on her fingers too. We have the prettiest nails in town. (Side note: She filed and snipped on her finger nails as soon as she got home. She will have them pulled off by the time she gets home from Florida).

Sadie was here, just being Sadie. She was wild when she got her, but then settled down and was precious. We did have some excitement. The first time she went out into the backyard, the birds that live in the gourds next door started buzzing her. They were relentless all weekend. Everytime the dogs went out, the birds attacked. So I went out with a stick to guard my grandpuppy. There may be a photo of that coming in the Pepper report next week.



On to Sunday!



Cindy and I got up this morning and did the prep for the day. Cindy made a new hot dip that was great. It was cheese, sun dried tomatoes, roasted red pepper. It was eaten up, along with the chips and dips Lu brought.



We took a break after that, and were showing Neil the Wii game, and letting LuAnn catch upon her Wii fit. The game remembers who you are and when you played. So it knew that LuAnn had not played for quite a while! Neil, Lu, Cindy and Robert bowled a game, then Lu did her Fit.



Then we stopped for lunch. Robert took over my job as grill master. He did a good job and made some yummy burgers and brats. We ate again. Then we stopped and played Wii a little while longer.



Then we stopped playing and honored the father with our offerings of presents. This was the holiday of using Christmas boxes. At least the gifts were wrapped in non-holiday paper. Paw got a new wardrobe and some smelly stuff.



Then we went back and played Wii some more.



Then we stopped and ate Watermelon. It wasn't good. Not quite watermelon season yet. Another couple of weeks!



Then we came back in and played Wii. Now, this was done in shifts, with different people playing, different people sitting outside and different people eating. It was sorta like a big anthill.



But I think it was a good day. I hope everyone had a good time.

My Week Is Over

My week is over! Yay! It wasn't too bad. The only fun thing I have to blog for the week is Wii! Sorry if you are tired of Wii. It's my blog.

I was sitting her Tuesday night, minding my own business, and Bennie came out and said he wanted to play Wii. So he gets the Mario Kart game out and proceeded to play! I was amazed. He even got online, or whatever you call it and raced against 4 strangers. They must have been kids, because the kicked his tail. Not really. He came in 3rd of 5. I was sufficiently impressed.

Last night, I met Rhonda for dinner at Chili's and we went to See Sex and the City. She was pouting because she didn't get to go the first time. Just because she was working! Now I figure I'll see it one more time when Cindy gets ready to go. We had fun. And the movie was still good. But not as good as the first time. The magic was gone!

Friday, I am going with Mom, Dad, Lu and Eric to Paula Deen's Buffet for lunch. Then I will spend my allotted $20 at the slot machines.

Saturday, Cindy is coming out to help me prepare for Fathers Day. We have an appointment to get pedicures Saturday afternoon. She and Mike are going to Florida next week, so she wants cute toes for the beach. I want cute toes so Sadie will have something to chase while she's here.

Sunday is Father's Day. The crowd is coming here. So there will be plenty of blog opportunities over the next few days. Stay tuned.......

Monday, Monday

For a Monday, it wasn't too bad. The highlight of the day was getting my haircut. I get my haircut at the salon in my building. The guy that cuts my hair is an Elvis Impersonator. I saw him walk by the office at lunch. Figured if he had time to walk around outside, he had time to cut my hair. That is usually how I decide it's time for a cut. So I got my summer cut. And it's short. But it will be cooler. Here's a shot of the cut. I also am including a shot of the dreaded lizard from Friday's episode.

Not much to report today. Normal Saturday stuff. Cleaned house. Bennie changed the oil in the car. Such excitement.

I did my exercise on the Wii early today. And I actually went into the strength training part and did some real exercises. Of course, you are still doing everything on the balance board, and you still get a score, based on your balance. Face it. I've been unbalanced all my life, and this game ain't gonna change it. Anyway....I progressed far enough that it unlocked the last balance game. It is called Lotus Focus. And I cracked up. You sit on the balance board and stare at a candle. Yep, that's it. You have to sit straight and not move. I guess it measures any movement, because if you move, the flame flickers and its game over. So now I know how to get my fitness minutes. Just go sit on the board and be very still!

We had moved the fountain, I mean Water Feature, and it is sitting in the little cubbie hole beside the chimney. I put water in it Friday and since it is solar powered, it was running this morning. I didn't think the birds would come up since it was so close to the house. But I got a few shots of birds playing in the fountain. They aren't very good, because I was shooting through the window and blinds and slats in the window. But now I have a hobby. Get better shots of the birds. If I succeed, I'll put them on here later.
