miscellaneous stuff

Let's just catch up here.....

I was off work Yesterday. I am going to start taking some of my Friday's off. It makes me a better person. So there.

I met Suzie for lunch at Pei Wei. Before I got there I had a little time to kill, so I went to the Verizon store just to look at the new phone I'm going to get soon. Told the guy I was having I-phone envy, so was looking at the Blackberry. It's in my future. So get ready. I just have to save my throw away money, and then I'll do it! Toys have a price.....

Had lunch with Suzie. It was delicious. I'm sure it is cooked with all sorts of stuff that aren't good for you, but it was shrimp. Used my "Set Points" and enjoyed the lunch. Left there, then took the long way home. And guess what. I passed a donut store. And I decided, I want a donut. So I did. First one (or 2) I've had since I got back on WW and it was just time. So I got that out of the way.

As I was headed home, I remembered that I meant to go to the cemetery while I was off, and was feeling a little guilty, and figured I would go sometime this weekend. But when I got home, I had a note from my friend Judy in Nashville. She had told me about her next door neighbor, Savannah, that is 9 years old and has cancer. They are trying to raise funds for Savannah's medical bills, so I wrote her a check for what I would have spent on flowers. And Mikey and I both feel a lot better about sending the money to Savannah. So that made me smile.

Then Bennie got home showered, and it was off to the Desoto Civic Center to see Jeff Dunham. And I this is going to be a rant, so tune out if you want to......

We went down I55. Just as we got to the exit for Goodman Rd, the traffic stopped. We had 1 mile to go to the exit for the civic center. It took 45 minutes. It was pouring rain. The Southaven Police are not very good at traffic control. My blood pressure went through the roof. It was totally ridiculous. (Note to self)(There's a reason you don't go to concerts, etc anymore).

We had planned to just eat stadium food, since that is one of my weakness. Like that's the only reason I would go to a Grizzlie or Tiger game is the nachos... Disappointed. (Although with my donuts, I lost a pound yesterday, so good thing there wasn't good food there.)

Then the show started. His opening act, is "Guitar Guy" I loved him. He was funny and talented and I enjoyed his part of the show a lot. Then after a 15 minute intermission, Jeff came out. And I have to say I was very disappointed. Walter was good. Then comes Achmed. I like Achmed. But he just went on and on. It was like Jeff had no clue where he was going or what he was going to say next. He kept having to look at his ipod to get his next joke. And of course, the whole dead terrorist thing is offensive, but I've always thought it was funny. I like the thought of terrorist blowing themselves up. But he went too far. So I was glad when that part was over.

Next comes Peanut, and he was funny, but no real substance to his act. Then Jalapeno on a stick comes for a few minutes. Again, I guess once you've seen his act a couple of times, it ain't funny anymore.

For his encore, he brought out BubbaD, since he was in Mississippi. He said he doesn't use Bubba in the shows anymore, so he "read" the jokes off of a piece of paper. The audience ended up reciting his punch lines.

And then there was the reverse of getting in, to get out. We got home after midnight.

So now we are all up to date.

Mike is getting to go to California for a sales meeting this week. So he will be living it up on the coast. Sounds like a great break for him. He works hard. And he will get to see George Zimmerman. But Cindy says he has already met him. So have a nice trip Mike!

Ah, Lillie!

Well, the night with Sadie was uneventful. She didn't sleep all night through like I thought she would, but I'm blaming it on Bennie. It is Bennie's job to turn the heat down before he goes to bed, because I can't be bothered with such details. And last night, Bennie went to bed to watch TV and went to sleep. Early. So when Sadie and I went to bed, needless to say, the house was hotter than we like to sleep. So about 1:30- Bennie got up to turn the heat down. Sadie was disturbed, and wanted to go out. Then she was a little restless. But it was ok. She settled down and we slept pretty good. Then we hung out around here til about noon, then took Sadie home. I figured Lillie had rested enough.

We got to Cindy's house, and she and Lillie met us at the door. Lillie was SO glad to see me. She cried and climbed all over me. Such good doggie sugar.

She and Sadie were glad to see each other. Then immediately started fighting over a squeaky toy. So all is well on Mt. Dickerson!
I got home and I'm still picking up fragments of doggie bones. But it was fun. I love those doggies!

Sadie's Visit

Lillie survived her hysterectomy. But I don't have pictures of that. I have SADIE!!!!
Bennie picked her up after work and brought her home to spend the night.
I've taken a million pictures and some videos. I haven't gotten any new ones lately, so look out blog.
Sadie wants a facebook page.

Sadie enjoys some Haagen-Daas.

I love Sadie.
And Larry sent me a picture of Molly. Thought I would share it too. Larry, hope Molly doesn't mind being in the blog!

Shady Pines Potluck

Got an email from Lu today. Tonight was the monthly potluck at Shady Pines. We have been invited before, but never quite made it. This time, I thought, Why Not? I had carpooled this morning and didn't have a car, and Bennie agreed, so off we went.

Since I don't have a kitchen at work, we opted to pick up Chicken. After a quick stop by LuAnn's to watch her prepare her entree and say hello to Rebel, off to the Club House. And I have to admit, we enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of potlucks, because I am scared of food from strangers kitchens. And I'm always prepared to see one of those wiggling green jello molds from the 60's. And I'm not above leaving and going to McDonalds. But there was some good stuff there.

The tables were decorated with Mardi Gras decorations. The napkins were Valentine's day. Sort of like eating at Mom's. Matching decor....

The only pics I got were of Lu trying to hide from her parents, and Bennie. And my fork. I have saved it for proof. Of what, I don't know. But I HAVE PROOF!

While cooking her entree, Lu got a call from someone at the clubhouse. Of course, they couldn't start without her entree, which was still in the oven, but they also couldn't start without FORKS! So she goes to her pantry to take her forks to the potluck. Guess what. They were left over from Christmas. And her forks came from the clearance rack at the Dollar Tree.

I got the Weight Watchers Fork.

Valentine Eve-2009

UPS delivered my Valentine Present today. It's a pretty rosebush. According to people that know me, this should live marginally longer that cut flowers.

But I love it. Thank you Bennie!

Fun Lunch

Yes, the calls continued about shingles and wind. Why, I even got phone calls from as far away as Paducah, Kentucky!!!! (Hi, MAC!)

But, that's work. The fun part of the day was lunch. Suzie came out to Collierville, Rhonda didn't work today and my boss was gone! I took a lunch hour. (and 15 minutes.) We had decided last night that we would go to Huey's. And Bennie and Jelly decided to join us! So we had a nice lunch.

I had a camera for a change and got some pictures. Jelly didn't want his picture taken, but I took it anyway. I'm being nice, because the first one I took of him was REALLY unflattering!

And the 3 girls stayed within their points. The 2 guys, not so much.....

Windy Part II

Crisis averted. The fence is back up.

In case you have never spent time in my back yard, here in OAKLANDHOMA, where the winds come sweeping down the plains..... (Yes I was raised on show tunes), the winds can be brutal. There's nothing out here to stop the wind gusts until it hits your roof or fence. We were lucky. It was just one section of fence, and our super fence builder built each section individually, so all Bennie had to do was get a helper to hold it into place and hammer and screw it back into place. (Did my blog just go x-rated?) (And according to Bennie, I am an excellent helper. He didn't really say that, but I'm sure he was thinking it.)

In other news, Lillie doesn't know what high winds are, either. But when she is standing on her patio and gets blown off the patio (and turns around to bite whatever hit her), it is a windy day. So we are searching the skies to be sure Lillie isn't dropped on us like a house in the Wizard of Oz. If you see a flying Doxie, please catch her. (Not really. Cindy caught her before she flew too far.)

Well, off to the world of I have 3 shingles blown off my roof world. Bartender, make it a double.....

Windy

Hold on to your hats today boys!!!!

We went last night to get into the hot tub. More because we feel guilty if we don't use if at least once a week. The wind was blowing, but it was warm. We got in, got comfortable, and I finally noticed, over to my right, there seemed to be more light than usual coming from the neighbors house. And guess what??? THERE WAS! A section of our fence was laying on the ground.

So hopefully, when Bennie gets home from work, he can get it put back up. I haven't investigated to see if it is broken, or just blown down.

But today at work will be fun.....ring...ring....ABC Insurance.....My roof blew off in the wind last night....Oh my, how bad is the damage?......I don't know. Looks like about 3 shingles blew off......You got a ladder? Yes. Then get your lazy butt off the phone and go put them back! And don't tell me about your swollen prostate either.

Have a Nice Day.

NOT COVERED!!!!

EDIT***** We got home and got a couple of hammers and whacked it back into place! All is right with the world..

Happy Birthday Mike!

Finally.

We did something that made bringing the camera out worthwhile. Today was Mike's Birthday. AND he was off work! So rather than being the good mother-in-law that I am and cooking for him, we went to Paula Deen's. She's a better cook. We got there early, and had the Brunch Buffet. If you only want breakfast, get there before 10:30. It's cheaper. But it was good, and I think everyone had a good time.

As we were leaving, we headed to our favorite Wheel Of Fortune penny slot. Which costs like $4 a pull to be able to spin the Wheel if the right thingies come up. So I put in my Harrah's rewards card, like I am ever going to earn any rewards, going once every 3 months and spending $20 each time. But I thought that's what you were supposed to do. So I put my $20 in, and it was gone...Just like that. (Cindy and I share a machine. She's my good luck charm.) Not this time. So she pulls $20 out of the money Mike had just gotten for his birthday. She fussed at me for using the rewards card. We took the rewards card out of the machine and continued to play with Mike's $20. And before you know it, she had won $100. She quickly gave me my $20 back (she's a good daughter) put Mike's $20 back in his stash (she's a good wife) and pocketed the rest. (She looks out for #1).

Then we high tailed it out of there. Now last time the Dickerson's went to Harrah's and came out with money, they went and bought Lillie. Cindy says todays windfall will go toward having Lillie neutered.
Lillie, if you are reading this, it's OK. They give you a pain pill. You get to be drugged for one day. You will love it...

Sadie, if you are reading this, don't tell Lillie the truth....

That was about it for the day. Bennie and I went and looked at a couple of open houses, and as usual, come away knowing we will be in Area 51 for a while. But that's OK. The nice weather will be here soon, and the people will flock to my backyard again. I can't wait.

Super Bowl Sunday

Didn't watch it. Didn't see any commercials. Was at home trying to finish off all the TV shows I had on the DVR, so I can fill it up next week.

Just wanted to stop in and say HI! I don't really have much to blog about. I just feel guilty if I don't post something occasionally.

I think most everybody that looks at my blog, is on Facebook, and Facebook catches most of the day to day stuff right now
I'll still be blogging, but not unless it is something interesting or important. If something I got really cool pictures of.
If you don't have a facebook page, make one. Then add me as a friend. It's fun. In the meantime, check back here. I might have something to say sometimes.
