2 blogs- 2 days
I know..Faint and fall out. This one not quiet so happy, though. Got to work this morning, (after sleeping through my alarm clock) and my boss came in shortly after. After exchanging pleasantries he announced that he wasn't feeling good and thinks maybe he has had a stroke. I politely explained to him that was not going to watch him die while shopping on eBay, and put him in the car and took him to the hospital. I know... if it had just happened, I could have called an ambulance, but obviously this occurred on Thursday probably, and he made it through til Monday, so I figured he could make it another 15 minutes. ER test confirmed that he did have a stroke, and they admitted him to Methodist Germantown for further testing. I don't know much more than that. Nicki and I jockeyed around and got his truck home, his dog groomed so she could take him to her house, and I took him the stuff he needed. Not sure how or if this ties in with his cancer. Guess time will tell. All I know, this is making life and work very unpleasant for Nicki and me! Hey, you knew it had to be about me, didn't you??? I will let you know more when I hear.

Garrison and Debi
The Christmas tree that stay up year round. At Christmas it is rumored that there are up to 6 trees.
I'm not really sure. An exam table with stirrups in the sunroom. Please feel free to make up your own story!!!
A cross. In the sunroom.
The Bigg ass fish. He was featured in a previous blog.
But this is the view from the deck. I told them I was going outside to channel my inner Annie Lebowitz. Rodney came out with me. I told him this place soothed the soul. It is beautiful.
Debi in her new pink floor cleaning slippers.
At the Ryman, Getting ready for the show.
Here we are at the Oak Bar in the Hermitage Hotel. Not sure why I look scared. I wasn't.
Debi and Rodney. I think I see her eyes. (She shuts her eyes in every picture.)
The Four Musketeers heading for the Ryman. This is the entrance of the Hermitage Hotel. It is like our Peabody. Old, restored and BEAUTIFUL!
OK. Here we go. I have not blogged in a month. Looking back over the last month, there wasn't a whole lot to blog about. Therefore...No blog. But we did have some fun this weekend, and I knocked the dust off the camera and took some photos. So you get a blog. See how that works?
This all started a couple of months ago. Debi had noticed that Garrison Keillor was going to be in NAshville. She and Bennie LOVE Prairie Home Companion. They recite the corny lines to the skits to each other. I am unamused. But ILBH, so we got tickets. (I tried to get a ticket for Debi and Bennie, volunteering Rodney and me to wait in the lounge for them, but Debi was having no part of that. She was determined we would ALL LOVE the show.) Yeah, whatever. So we got the tickets and anxiously awaited the show.
We arranged to meet at the Hermitage Hotel for a drink before the show. I figured I would need a BUNCH to get through the show. (I had a coke. Damn I'm boring). So we met up, looked around the lobby, had a drink, were entertained by a fat, loudmouthed woman sitting in the corner. (I later saw her at the show. She was 4 rows in front of us.) Then we headed to the Ryman. Even though it was only a couple of blocks, it was raining, so we caught a taxi and go put out at the front door. We were living the dream, babee!
One thing I learned during the show. The Ryman was built as a church. We were sitting on pews. Pews built for short skinny people. That God was punishing by making their butts hurts. But we survived. I think that is why the Grand Ol Opry shows are as short at they are. If people had to sit on those pews for long, they might get unhappy! (And yes, I have been t the New Opry house. Marginally better. Still pews. But with a butt pad)
OK. Here is where it gets interesting. Rodney and I loved the show. Of Course Bennie and Debi did. They are geeks. But it was a great show. I think that one of the big issues I have with the show is the "entertainment" that they have every week. They have people "locally" perform, and to me, they are usually awful. But being NAshville , it was great. Emmylou Harris was there. Sara Watkins, and Sam Bush were all performers. They were all great. And for any Country music fans, here is a prediction.
Look for a band called "Civil Wars" to do something. Or at least the female part of the duo. Her name is Joy Williams. And she had everyone mesmerized. She was AWESOME. Google them. Their first album they released on the internet for free. Their 2nd on is actually for sale, but they rocked the house.
So as usual, I had to eat my words. I will not become a Garrison fan. He still annoys the heck out of me. But I really blocked out his huffing and puffing, and just enjoyed the show. Since he may be retiring soon, this may become history. So I'm glad we got to see him.
After the show, we headed to Debi's for a late dinner and quick sleepover. As usual, they really outdid themselves. We had an awesome steak dinner, and she had me a chocolate birthday cake that was to die for! And since she made me eat so late, she had to stay up with me and talk until my stomach get ready to go to bed. We probably made it to bed around 2:00. (Not an issue for her. She is a night owl.) But we kept warning them that we were early risers, at least as compared to her. She sleeps in until noon most days. But when Bennie and I woke up, we tried to be real still, and not wake anyone. Until.... I smell bacon!!!! So we got up, and she had fixed us breakfast. If you ever find yourself in Nashville, I suggest you go mooch off of them. They are awesome hosts and always ACT like they are glad we are there.
Now for the other pictures. Debi has one small shortcoming. My Mom and sister will appreciate this. Debi collects things. I took a few pictures to show you some of her collections. She cracks me up! One of her remarks on a picture I had posted on facebook one time of a new comforter I had bought was "Why isn't there anything hanging on your walls." We are polar opposites!
Enjoy the pictures. Oh, yeah, As a thank you gift, I found some slippers just for Debi. They are houseshoes, with the bottom made like dust mops. She looked like she had a Rastaman with pink dreadlocks on each foot. Silly girl. She loved them. Now THAT is the kind of fun old girlfriends make, no matter how old we get.
Thank you God for giving me so many beautiful people in my life, The ones that if you don't talk to the for a few months, you pick up right where you left off. The ones that take you to Perdido,The ones that take you to Las Vegas, the ones that welcome you into their homes and are hurt if you try to stay in a hotel. I am blessed in so many ways.
That is about all I have for now! It's bedtime, back to work tomorrow.

It's March
I had to post something so my blog would move off of the month of February. I hate February.
It's March now. Things will be better.
Now to all of you who have been lured into the false sense of "winter is gone" Joke is on you. All the plants you are planting now WILL freeze. It will snow again. It can't help it. It is still Winter. But hopefully the 20 degree nights are gone for a while.
I drove home from work last night with the top down on the convertible. Weather was perfect. With heated seats warming my buns, and the wind blowing through my hair, it was perfect.
Got in the car this morning and the top was still down, so I thought I would give it a try. Made it a couple of blocks and decided it was a little nippy to ride with the top down. Besides, I washed my hair this morning. Had I continued all the way to work with damp hair and the snowflake indicator on my car showing, I might have gotten to work with a glacier on my head.
But the trip home is a different story. After 8 hours of working in this stinky office, I NEED the fresh air blowing in my face. I consider it my free aromatherapy treatment.
