I just read my last post from April.  Not much has changed. The world stayed still for a couple of months. The virus slowed down.  But the world got bored. And people got out more. People went back to work. The virus sped back up.  We are all having to learn to wear masks in public. We can’t meet in groups larger than 10. Socially distance at least 6 feet apart. Hospitals are near capacity. Cases are mild to fatal.  You take your chances.  I tend to stay at home. Being out in public scares me.  I’m not sure how I will come out of this.

But life is trying to go on.  Before all of this, it was decided that Thomas would start kindergarten at Macon Rd. Baptist School.  Very small Christian school. And as it turns out, maybe that was a good decision. A class room of 10 in a school that is confident they can keep everyone safe.  So my precious sweet sweet will start kindergarten on August 11. Praying that this all works out. It is a very stressful time.  But Thomas is ready. He is ready for school to start. And he is ready for the sickness to go away. He hasn’t gotten to go anywhere in months and needs to make a Walmart run.

Bennie and I are home bound and getting on each other’s nerves. He is a bit more comfortable being out than I am. I’ve gone to Walmart twice, and bed bath and beyond once.  And we have tried 4 restaurants since they opened back up.  We do a lot of take out!

It is just very boring, and very unsettling.  I’m not comfortable in my own skin.  And I am getting to the age, there isn’t a lot of time to recuperate. I really don’t mind being home. I am a homebody. But it is a lot different when you HAVE to stay home.

I remember leaving Cindy’s house in March thinking it would be a few days or couple weeks...a month tops. I planned to spend the summer entertaining Thomas before he started school.  You know the saying, someday you will hug someone for the last time, but you won’t realize it.  I walked away fromThomas and didn’t see him for 3 months.  Now I see him a bit more. My home is sickness free and he is allowed to come here. But he actually sanitized his hands last time he was here after he hugged me.

Bennie’s mom is in a nursing home. That facility has been eat up with covid.  Joyce had it, but survived.  The overall death rate in nursing homes is 25-33%. We get to talk to her every few days, and she looks pretty good.
